Electric go kart?
I'm looking to build an electric go kart this summer and I need to get all the peices together. I currently have a frame(can be modified if needed). I also have a motor that's a 90 volt, 2.5 hp, 2400 rpm, and 23.8 amps. I'm planning on using a couple of new car batteries as the power. I know i need more than this, but I don't know what it is. Any help? And will two batteries work, or will I need more than that?
Standard car batteries are a poor choice for powering the cart, you need to use a battery built for deep cycling. Two car-type batteries is only 24 volts (wired in series), so you would need at least 8 12v batteries of this type to get you to the >90v your motor is going to want.
In addition to your motor and batteries you will need a motor controller and a throttle pot to guide the controller. Tie the traction pack/controller/motor with at least 4ga to be safe.
90 volts is not super high, but it is enough to hurt you if you get tangled in the wrong parts. Study up on EVs and how to safely work on them. There is a wealth of information out there,have fun learning.
