Yllas Lapland and the things to see and do
Yllas Lapland is a very small village with only a population of about 400 locals, in the summer months, Yllas is extremely quiet and it is a really nice time to visit Lapland. In the winter months there are the usual activities such as husky dog sledging, skiing (with various lesson options), snowmobiles (including kids snowmobiles, reindeer rides, Santa visits (including private meetings with Santa and many more. There are also the options of going on self organised trips. Yllas Lapland has some other great attractions, far too many to mention here but some of the great attractions include Konijankan wildlife park which is about a 15 minute walk from the Lapland Log Cabin. They have various animals, all of which can be hand fed and stroked. They also have a coffee lounge where they do small snacks and sell Lapland crafts and toys. The wildlife park is a lovely place to visit and they have an open fire outside where you can toast sausages. There is also a snow run, where the children can have a fantastic time on some of the many sledges dotted round. Other options include hiring a snowmobile, where you can arm yourself with a map and go exploring. The snow village is not far by snowmobile and there are many cafe's along the way. The snow village is an absolute fantastic place to visit, as well as the ice hotel, there is also a range of activities going on in addition to the other attractions. You can also hire some cross country skies and join everyone else on the tracks which are open until quite late into the evening.. If you haven't cross country skied before, you can have lessons or you can teach yourself. The children can become involved in cross country skiing and are normally better than the adults. Lapp village is also a great place to visit. As well as having a magical meeting with Santa, there is a range of activities on offer for the children, such as kid's snowmobiles. A holiday in Lapland is a fantastic holiday and it is probably wise not to fill your holiday with organised trips in order to give yourselves the opportunity to enjoy some of the other things on offer and there are plenty of them.
